When an abandoned hunting cabin in the desirable Hunterdon County countryside was purchased by a local builder/developer, Inside Architecture was engaged to transition the small rustic building into an exciting, one of a kind renovation and expansion for the high-end residential resale marketplace. This unique design opportunity called for a home that respected the special nature of this sensitive site in terms of building scale, material choices and relationship to the setting punctuated with natural rock outcroppings.
Working within the confines of a very challenging site IA was able to develop significant addition for the home that melds seamlessly with the extensively renovated existing portion of the house. The completed project features a vaulted ceiling for the kitchen and dining spaces providing a bright and airy feel for all of the living spaces of the home. Creating a design that takes full advantage of the stunning views to the deeply wooded lot adds a sense of spaciousness that is complemented by the gracious indoor/outdoor living spaces provided by the introduction of multiple decks on the home. Site topography allowed for a walk-out lower level that was completely finished to provide for an artist studio and family living space for this four bedroom home.
